ABOUT ROD MULLEN

After receiving his B.A. at the University of California, Berkeley, Rod Mullen attended the San Francisco Art Institute where he studied photography under master photographer John Collier, a member of the renowned documentary photographic project of the Farm Security Administration of the Depression era.

During that mentorship, he completed an in-depth photographic study of an economically depressed and socially turbulent neighborhood in West Oakland during the civil rights movement of the 60's. These photographs are housed in the archives of San Francisco State University.

He also took a Master Class in photography from Harry Callahan, recognized as one of the most influential photographers of the 20th Century.

Mr. Mullen's lengthy career in social services left him with little time for photography, but during the past decade, while maintaining his position as CEO of Amity Foundation, he returned to his first love, photography. He has used his time in California and Arizona, and travel to Asia, Latin America and Europe to make photographs.
